About

sex and the city quotes love sucks

Sex. Love. Break-ups. Stand-ups. Unreturned phone calls. Cheating. Obsessing. Creepy texting. Smiling. Crying. Laughing.

It’s all part of being single in Cleveland .

I wish this site didn’t have to remain anonymous. However, to preserve the authenticity of the blog content, it will need to be. Odds are if I know people are reading this and know who I am, I will censor the content. I don’t want that. This site is meant to be a brutally honest account of what it is like to be single when you turn 30 and beyond.  I want to feel comfortable dishing out the dirty details of my sex and dating life. Why? Because it’s damn funny… in a self-deprecating way.

I live in a Western suburb of Cleveland and my spare time is spent frequenting local restaurants, the metroparks and lots of bars. I’m single and live in a one bedroom apartment with my dog, therefore I really need no excuse to drink. It beats sitting on my couch watching bad family sitcoms and crime dramas.

I moved back to the Cleveland area about a year ago after living in South Florida for a few years. I loathe Cleveland weather, but found myself missing my friends and family back here. Sometimes I think that if I didn’t venture out on my own to spend years playing and partying on beaches, I might have actually been settled down by now.

I date. I date a lot. Some folks like to write poetry or play tennis – I date. My philosophy is that as long as I’m single, I may as well make the most of it. One day I do hope to settle down with Mr. Right, but until then I plan to have fun and enjoy the strange stories that come from dating a variety of different men.

I don’t have the life I thought I would by now. One thing I know for sure is that after traveling and dating hundreds (yes, hundreds) of men, when the time comes to settle down I’ll be ready and have no regrets about missed opportunities.

So if you are currently single, about to be single or in a not-so-great relationship – here is a blunt take on the single life of a thirty-year-old Cleveland woman. I don’t know what stories will wind up on this blog, but I’m sure there will be lots of ups, downs, laughable moments, a little heartache and hopefully maybe a little love.

All stories on this site are 1oo percent true. However, names have been changed to protect the not-so innocent.

This is my Cleveland dating blog – Enjoy!

I enjoyed reading your posts. You are a great writer!!

Thanks, but you are too kind. :-) I’ve enjoyed reading your posts as well. In fact, I spent over an hour the other day reading your posts because I think your writing is very good. It has a narrative quality and your story really held my interest. My daughter is 31 and single, and while she and I are close, and we get together frequently, your experiences still gave me insight into her world, and the issues that she deals with now in 2012, many years after my last involvement in the world of dating. Times sure have changed… Some things are still the same, and always will be, but there is much that is very different now.

I know that you just got one of these, but it is my pleasure to share with you The Liebster Blog Award. There is no need for you to do anything with it, other than to just enjoy it and take it as a compliment. Have a great day! :-)

Thanks so much for the nomination! Your kind words really made my night (it’s been a rough one, so thank you)! As for your daughter, I like to think that nowadays, the longer you wait to settle down, the more likely it is that you’ll stay together. By the time you hit 30, you’ve experienced plenty and have a good idea of what it is you’re looking for. Plus, it’s hard to go middle age crazy if the marriage is just starting out! Dating at 30 is tough, that’s for sure. There’s a ton of weirdos out there (men and women).

Single in Cleveland would be interesting! I went to college not far from there and have spent some time in the Cleve! Your blog is great so far! It’s fun (is fun the right word?!) to read about others misadventures in dating!

Being single in Cleveland is tough, but I can’t imagine it’s different from anywhere else. Cleveland has an awesome food scene – so one of the best perks to being single in Cleveland is all the yummy restaurants you get to go to on a regular basis.

Dear Darling or Bro: Because you have been generous enough to expose some raw, tender, or embarrassing side of your physical, intellectual, or aesthetic being, I have nominated you for the coveted TMI Blogger Award. Look here ( http://theoblack.wordpress.com/2012/03/31/i-got-your-tmi-right-here/ ) for the applicable rules. (Excuse the form-letter, but I have to post a bunch of these.)
